Uganda Cranes captain at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, Geoffrey Massa has announced his retirement from international football.

He told a local news paper The New Vision:
"It has been a wonderful experience for me and I grateful to have served my country at the best of my abilities. I will make a formal communication on Wednesday."

Massa has played for the Uganda Cranes for 12 years with sacrifice and dedicated service.

Among the numerous achievements Massa will live to remember is guiding the Uganda Cranes to Gabon for the Africa Cup of Nationas finals after a 39-year wait for the feat.

Massa praised Uganda Cranes teammates, FUFA, fans, coaches particularly Muhammed Abbasi and the media fraternity.

Club Football
The striker played for Mbale Heroes and  Police in the Uganda Premier League.

He has played professional football with Egyptian sides Al Masry, El Shams and Itesalat. He had a stint with Yenicami Agdelen SK in Cyprus, Jomo Cosmos, Amatuks, Bloemfontein Celtic, University of Pretoria and recently Baroka in South Africa.

The workaholic striker will continue with the club football with clubs in the Middle East reportedly interested in his services.
