TP Mazembe winger Solomon Asante is worried about his side's inability to qualify for the CAF Champions League and says it has been a great setback for the team.

The DR Congo side has missed out on the CAF Champions League on two successive occasions and will have to concentrate on qualifying and competing in the Confederation Cup.

The Lubumbashi side had to part ways with Frenchman Thierry Froger in just two month after appointing his as the successor of fellow countryman Velud who left after the expiration of his contract.

And the Ghana international insists his charges are worried after missing out of the Champions League.

"In everything we need to praise God. It is worrying that we are missing out on the Champions League for the second time. It's a competition that every player would want to play in," he said.

"We are however not disturbed because we have played in this competition (CAF Champions League) before, won it and have even competed at the World Clubs Championship. It's worrying but not disturbing," he emphasised.

The former Berekum Chelsea winger said they will prepare well to fight for a ticket to compete in the Confederation Cup despite falling out of the Champions League.

"We will have to turn our attention to compete to ensure we secure a ticket to the Confederation Cup. We still need to make our fans proud," he noted.

Solomon Asante has been playing for the Lubumbashi-based side for close to five seasons and is one of their most influential players having guided them to many laurels since arriving at the Ravens.
