24.03.2017 LISTEN

Newly promoted Division One League side Bekwai Youth Football Academy have enjoyed a remarkable start in their maiden campaign in the second tier league with an impressive record.

The Bekwai-based side have lost just a game after six matches in the campaign, placing third on the 16-club table behind leaders Karela FC and Dunkwa United.

The academy boys, averaged at 19 years in age, have won three matches, drawn two and lost just a game in their opening six matches in the season.

A solitary win in their first game against Nzema Kotoko was neutralised by a lone goal loss to Unistar Academy away at Kasoa in their second week game.

A disappointing 2-2 draw with Achicken FC at home was followed up by 2-0 away win over Asokwa Deportivo at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The spirited side pipped Proud United and home culminating the performance with a 1-1 draw away at Wassaman, a game the Bekwai boys could have won with fair officiating.

BYF Academy is the first indigenous Bekwai side to have qualified into the second tier league and their impressive performance has given birth to an electrifying feeling in the Amansie Municipality.
