Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan says Kwesi Appiah has 'developed' himself and capable of returning as Black Stars coach.

Appiah is touted as the favourite to replace Avram Grant who left the job after the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon where the team finished a disappointing fourth.

The Ghana FA has confirmed it will start to interviewing the shortlisted applicant next week.

A number of high-profile names including Brazilian legend Roberto Carlos and ex-England coach Roy Hodgson believed to be among the front-runners.

But Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan reckons the Sudan-based tactician has improved on the job.

"He (Kwesi Appiah) is a good man, he has developed himself in Sudan and I think he is capable of handling the team (Black Stars) again." Gyan told Hot FM.
