Tema, March13, GNA - The maiden Vardon Odonkor Memorial Open Golf Championship tees-off at the Tema Country Golf Course on Saturday, March 18.
Joseph Nettey, the Captain of the Tema Country Golf Club, who disclosed this in Tema on Monday, said 150 amateur and professional golfers were expected to participate in the one-day 18-hole competition.
He said entry qualification for Group 'A' of the competition was Handicap 0-14 while the Group 'B' is pegged at Handicap 15-28.
In the ladies segment, the captain said Handicap 0-20 holders qualify for the Group 'A' encounter while the Group 'B' has Handicap 21-36.
The professionals will battle each other for the prize money beginning Friday, March 17, to Saturday, March 18.
Vardon Odonkor, former Vice President of the Tema Country Golf Club, died some five years ago.
He was the brain behind the trees planted around the Golf Course which provide shade for golfers.
The competition is being sponsored by the family of the late Odonkor.
