Five-man committee appointed to fulfil FIFA's directives

Accra, April 7, - A five-man committee has been appointed by the Congress, the highest decision making body of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to oversee the reforms proposed by the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) as well as the general rules of the GFA.

This follows the directive given by FIFA to the GFA to undertake reforms in its statutes within 90 days.

The committee includes Mr Kwasi Nyantakyie, Vice Chairman of the GFA, Mr Kwame Ntow-Fiako, Randy Abbey and Fred Crenstil members of the Executive Council of the GFA and Mr Jones Abu Alhassan Director of Real Tamale United (RTU).

The members were nominated by the Executive Council of the GFA and approved by the Congress on Thursday.

Mr Justice Alexander Kwabena B. Ampiah, President of Congress in outlining the responsibilities of the committee said it would study and review the statutes and regulations of the GFA and work on the directives given by FIFA.

The committee would in addition deal with any other matter concerning the operations of the GFA and make recommendations on the way forward.

Members of the general public could also send their recommendations to the committee through a memorandum, which would be channelled through the secretariat of the GFA, he said.

According to Mr Justice Ampiah, the committee had four weeks to work, after which, the report would be submitted to Congress for scrutiny and forwarded to FIFA for endorsement.

The committee is to elect its own chairman after its first sitting.
