The World Boxing Council (WBC) has recognized Ghana’a Lawrence Nyanyo Nmai for his exploits in the ring and contribution to the development of Martial Arts around the world.

Lawrence Nmai was awarded with the special WBC World Championship belt after he beat Germany’s Daniel Dorrer in the World Martial Arts Committee (WMAC) 86 kg K1 title event in Germany.

The three-time winner of the title told Yours Truly its time the lesser known or least financed sports disciplines are supported by corporate Ghana. He appealed to companies to support Kickboxing because it is very entertaining and full of action.

He promised to defend his world title against Dorrer in Ghana at the Bukom Boxing Arena and prayed for support from the media and other stakeholders in sports development.

After claiming the title Nii Nyanyo as he loves to be called has been training young people and thus he is now ever busy doing what he loves doing most in his brother’s gym.

He is also dreaming of the Ghana National Kickboxing team who have to compete for places to join the delegations to engage in future international training programmes.

The President of the Ghana Kickboxing Association, Nii Adotey Dzata 1 and his Communications Director have been in constant touch with the world champion who also has plans of donating some training equipment to the national team aka The Terminators.
