Former Black Stars skipper Stephen Appiah believes any of the 16 nations in Gabon is capable of winning the Africa Cup of Nations.

Speaking on Ghanaian TV Channel GH One Post Match Analysis Show “Sports Chat” hosted by Fifi Banson, the ex- Parma, Juventus, Brescia and Fenebache player said all the teams and players have one aim and that is to win, that is the main reason why they are at the final.

He commended new entrants at the final, Guinea Bissau for holding host nation to a 1-1 draw in the opening game, and also the exciting Stallions off Burkina Faso who played a great game to also equalize against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroun.

Stephen Appiah who never won the Africa Cup, but lead the Black Stars to their first FIFA World Cup qualification was however said for the host nation, whose fans may be disappointed to draw in the opening game against a minnow like Guinea Bissau, but he noted that there are no minnows in African Football and wished that Gabon will win their next game to appease the fans to make the tournament attractive.

Appiah who was analyzing the Africa Cup of Nations together with Augustine Arhinful, Laryea Kingson and Jeff Asare, a Marketer / Researcher said it is sad for players to lose matches that seem easy and throw away begging chances.

“Missing some chances can affect your life forever, unless you have a strong heart” Appiah said.

Also, known as Tornado, Stephen Appiah who was among the back-room staff of former Stars coach Kwesi Appiah at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil wished the Black Stars well and prayed that they win the fifth title which has eluded Ghana for almost 35 years.
