The maiden edition of G. T Oddoye Memorial Junior Tennis Open Championship ended last weekend, Elijah Okine, Godsway Ganyo, Bright Nortey, Reginald Okantey, won titles in the boys 10, 12, 14 and 16 categories and in the girls division: Akosua Tenkoreng, Portia Allotey, and Naa Mckorley won titles for and girls the 10, 14 and 16.

The tournament, was organized in memory of the late G.T Oddoye, former chairman of the Ghana Tennis Federation,

90 junior players, both boys and girls participated in the championship, which was held at Accra Lawn Tennis Club (ALTC), December 19 – 22, 2016.

The competition, as always was essentially targeted at exposing the raw talents into quality players that could in future become top stars.

In an interview with tournaments organizer Dr. Adrian Oddoye congratulated the players for participating in the competition and wished them well in future events.

Dr. Oddoye assured continuous support and urged the upcoming players to do their best in the next edition.

Boys 16 and under winner Reginald Okantey also said “I am very happy to win, winning this tournament was my top priority, I did not take the tournament for granted and like I do in other tournaments, I was hungry to win. This is a good competition and the organizers should continue the initiative’’. He praised the whole organization of the event and promised to defend his title.
