Accra, March 20, GNA - Fans of Accra Hearts of Oak last Sunday blamed their inability to advance to the next stage of the CAF Champions League squarely at the doorsteps of their skipper, Yaw Amankwah Mireku.

Hearts went into the match with the hope of cancelling the four goals they conceded in the first leg and succeeded in launching a late rally to bang in two late goals at the last quarter of the game.

Disaster however struck them when the Nigerians pulled a goal back to quash the desires and hope of miracle an this misfortune was something that the fans insisted was as a result of lack of urgency on the part of the skipper of the side.

The demanding supporters at the May 9th Stand of the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium pelted the player with bagged and bottled water after the game as they felt the lousy defending on the part of Mireku prior to the visitor's goal helpd to demoralise the team.

The open act by the supporters to register their displeasure on the skipper was as their claims that the player went globe trotting after their abortive Super Cup game against Enyimba last month and he eventually failed to glitter when it mattered most.

Not even the players' attempt to respond with a clap could convince the ever demanding and angry fans of Hearts to stop their barbaric acts, which continued till the player entered the tunnel leading to the dressing room.

Ironically, Skipper Mireku had a hand in both goals that was scored by Prince Tagoe through his amazing speed and overlapping moves on the right side of defence.

Skipper Mireku could not be reached for any comment as the fans threatened to beat him up should he show up.

The name of the skipper was on the lips of almost every fan on their way outside the stadium and on their way home as they continued to lament on their early elimination from the competition without once again achieving their heart felt slogan of, "the Miracle of El-Wak".
