Paris, Nov. 22, (Gna/dpa) - Paris Saint-Germain right back Serge Aurier has been denied entry by British authorities and will miss Wednesday's Champions League match at Arsenal, the French club said Tuesday.

PSG said in a statement it is "stunned by this incomprehensible situation that attacks the very integrity of the UEFA Champions League."

The club said the visa for the Ivory Coast player Aurier was originally granted in October but then revoked last week because the player was sentenced to two months in prison in September for attacking a police officer in Paris.

He has appealed the verdict, remains free, and PSG said it had informed the British authorities about the conviction and was backed by the ruling body UEFA.

"Paris Saint-Germain strongly regrets that the presumption of innocence has not influenced Britain's decision," PSG said.

Arsenal and PSG top Group A with 10 points each, and the winner Wednesday at Emirates Stadium will be guaranteed first place which could help avoiding difficult opponents in the last 16.
