Confederation Cup 2018 FIFA WC Qualifier: CAF appoint former Nigeria Army General Dominic Oneya as security officer for Egypt-Ghana clash
NOV 13, 2016 LISTEN

The Confederation of African Football have appointed former Nigeria military chief and NFA President Brig. Gen. Dominic Oneya (Rtd) as security officer in the crucial 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier between Egypt and Ghana on Sunday.

CAF have placed security on a high agenda by naming the experienced security guru to oversee safety at the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria.

The 86,000-capacity stadium will be put under close surveillance before, during and after the game with Ghana raising concerns over protection for Israeli coach Avram Grant.

The Israel Embassy in Egypt have provided tight security for Grant who is focused on guiding Ghana to victory over Egypt before their home fans.

Egypt, who slipped to a 6-1 defeat against Ghana in Kumasi in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier in 2013, have targeted revenge over the Black Stars.

Kick off is 16:00 GMT.
