
Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko have paid glowing tribute to former coach EK Afranie who died on Wednesday.
The celebrated Ghanaian coach died under bizarre circumstances after an ambulance transferring him to a hospital facility in Kumasi got involved in a freak accident.
The Kumasi-based side have been left shell-shocked by the demise of their former trainer.
'The sorrow which has engulfed the club upon hearing the sad development cannot be quantified in words' the statement said before eulogising the departed trainer. 'He was a good man and a great professional whose work ethic guided the club to some great feats. His name is firmly etched in the rich annals of Asante Kotoko SC," part of a statement read
'Beyond Kotoko, he proved that, to qualify a Ghanaian team to a World Cup you do not look beyond Emmanuel Kwasi Afranie.
"He achieved that on four different occasions aside his exploits in the African Cup of Nations."
