Bayern Munich defender Samuel Kuffour has revealed that he would like to join Arsenal in the summer.

The powerful African defender is keen to leave the German giants in the summer when his contract expires.

The 28-year-old has turned down the offer of a new deal at Bayern as he feels it is time to move on, and wants to sample life in London.

Kuffour says that he has close ties with the English capital and has said he would like to join Arsene Wenger's side.

"I've been here a long time and its time now for a change," Kuffour told Sky Sports News.

"I will definately leave here in the summer, whether i go to Italy or England I'm not sure yet.

"I'm proud to be one of the African players who have been playing for such a good club for so long, but I now want to experience new things and a new way of life.

"My wife grew up in London and we have family and friends there - when I go there I feel good.

"It would be a pleasure for me to live there, and play for Arsenal.

"Arsenal are one of the best teams around and they have great players and a great manager. To play for them would really suit me well." Wenger has had severe defensive troubles this season, and the big Ghanian would offer extra strength to his backline.

Newcastle and Juventus have been in the race to sign Kuffour, but it seems his heart is set on joining The Gunners.

His comments come as the two clubs prepare to face each other at Highbury in a crucial UEFA Champions League tie on Wednesday.

Arsenal are 3-1 down from the first leg in Munich but Kuffour believes that they still have a chance of making progress at his current club's expense. "Arsenal have some very good players and scoring in Munich means that they will still have a chance."
