A section of the football public in Ghana have called for the termination of the contract of Coach Avram Grant because he does not respect his job, Ghanaians in general and his employers.

The Israeli football manager who took the Black Stars to the final of the last African Cup of Nations was accused of being in London and appearing as a pundit on Sky Sports TV when he should have been at the Draw of the 2017 African Cup of Nations in Gabon.

His accusers say he should have been in Gabon to grace the event and also link up with the people at the venue where Ghana is grouped alongside Uganda, Egypt and Mali as well as check where the Black Stars will stay for the group matches.

Some of the people who want Grant to go say he does not stay in Ghana to watch local matches and give local players the opportunity of playing in the Black Stars, but only dwelling on a team already built by former coach Kwesi Appiah.

The only player Avram Grant has given exposure is young enterprising forward, Samuel Tetteh who exceled at the National Under 20 and displayed fantastically at WAFA before joining the exodus bandwagon. When he was given the opportunity, he did very well scoring in a drub game against Rwanda in the last game of the African Cup Qualifiers, but was not featured against Uganda in the World Cup Qualifier.

Those who are against the management style of Avram Grant in Ghana say he has no formation or game plan, because they see nothing in the game of the Black Stars, Against Uganda at the Tamale Sports Stadium, he had no antidote to the game plan of the Cranes who were comfortable with the weather and how Ghana played. Their coach said he varied six different game plans and drew away against mighty Ghana.

Meanwhile, Avram Grant who watched the Draw on TV said Ghana has a good team that is capable of improving upon their performance at the last tournament.

He praised the Black Star players and urged them to be focused for the task ahead, and concentrate on reaching Russia 2018 and winning AFCON 2017.

Black Stars skipper Asamoah Gyan has backed the coach and believes they can make it to the next World Cup, despite the draw at home. He said Ghana is capable of winning or drawing in Alexandria and Kampala.

There is also some joy with the recovery of talisman Andre Dede Ayew, the special player whose absence in any Black Stars match since 2008 can be felt. Andre Dede Ayew who got injured in a game for West Ham has been out for some time and his comeback would be slow but sure and explosive.

In another development, the Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee and Vice President of the GFA George Afriyie who was at the Draw has defended the coach, saying it was not so important that the Black Stars coach should be at the Draw, he noted that what is more important is winning the African Cup that has eluded Ghana since 1982, when they last won in Libya.

Since 2008, the Black Stars have always been among the last four teams in the African Cup, but failed to click when it mattered most.

Others people are asking … Will Avram Grant stay to take Ghana to Gabon 2017 and win the AFCON? another question is whether he will be the man to lead Ghana to Russia 2018, with five months left in his contract?
