Liverpool moved up to second in the Premier League after a narrow win over West Brom at Anfield.

The Reds missed the chance to move top on goal difference after Gareth McAuley's late strike restored Arsenal to their temporary position as league leaders.

First half goals from Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho gave the Reds a commanding lead, and the home side didn't look back, as they secured their fifth league win in their last six games.

Jurgen Klopp's side opened the scoring with twenty minutes played after a wonderful team move was finished off by Mane. Coutinho's clever dummy allowed Emre Can to surge forward before his cross was emphatically put into the back of the net by Mane's volley.

Approaching half time, Tony Pulis' side gifted Liverpool a second goal following Ben Foster's dreadful clearance. Mane collected the ball before feeding Coutinho, who dipped past Craig Dawson and McAuley, which allowed the Brazilian time and space to fire past Foster at his near post.

Despite dominating for large spells, Liverpool found themselves under pressure going into the final eight minutes, after McAuley found the net with a thunderous effort inside the box.
