Aura-Asebu-Kwamankese District are champs

Twifo-Praso(C/R), Feb 16, GNA - Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese (AAK) District on Tuesday emerged the Zone 2 athletics champions when they bagged 79 and a half points in the Central Regional Under-12 Inter- District's Basic Schools Sports festival held at Praso.

Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira District placed second with 71 and a half points followed by Upper Denkyira District who bagged 62 points and Assin District followed up with 23 points.

In the girls' division, Twifo Hemang-Lower-Denkyira District came first with 81 and a half points followed by Assin District in the second position with 60 points with Upper Denkyira District placing third with 42 points while AAK came last with 30 and a half points.

In the soccer match, Foso District beat Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira 3-4 on penalties to lift the championship trophy.

Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese beat Upper Denkyira 2-1 for the third position.

Ms Regina Longdon, Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira District Director of Education commended the athletes for their good sportsmanship during the festival and asked them to keep it up to win laurels for themselves and their districts.
