Accra, Feb. 7, GNA - Some 70 top-notch golfers are expected to compete in this year's President's Putter scheduled for Sunday, February 20, at the Tema Country Golf Course.

The 18-hole full handicap event will be competed for by golfers from the Tema Country Golf Club, Celebrity, Achimota and Bok Nam Kim. The President's Putter, staged every last Sunday of February had to be pushed forward because it's original date of February 27, coincided with this year's Guinness Open scheduled for Kumasi.

The Guinness Open, the second most prestigious Tournament after the Ghana Open, provides the platform for all captains from the various golf clubs in the country to deliberate on pertinent issues affecting the sport.

Mr Ebenezer Adablanu, Chief Executive Officer of the Tema Country Golf told the GNA Sports that in order not miss out on such an important gathering, the president's putter needed to be rescheduled to enable the captain and some top brass from the Tema club to be represented.

Sunday's event would be used to outdoor newly elected executives of the Tema Country Golf Club. They include Felix Owusu-Adjapong, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and president of the club and Elizabeth Essel Koomson who has taken over from Essie Cobbina as lady captain. Five prizes will be up for grabs in the male category while the ladies would battle for three.
