14 clubs register for Greater Accra Women's league

Accra, Feb. 10, GNA - The Greater Accra Women Soccer Committee (GAWSOC) has so far registered 14 female soccer clubs in the Region to participate in the 2005 soccer season.

The registered clubs includes La Ladies, Meridian Ladies, Ada Ladies, GHATEL Ladies, Nungua Ladies, Tesano Ladies, Faith Ladies, Post Ladies and Great Mawuena Ladies.

The rest are Dansoman Ladies, Ashaiman Ladies, Bubiashie Starlets Ladies, Sunspot Ladies and new entrants, Rot Weiss Ladies. The clubs will engage in a gala competition on March 12, to herald the beginning of the 2005 soccer season, which is fixed for March 26.

In another development, most of the participants are expected to engage in series of friendly matches at the end of the week. On Friday, February 11, at the Town Council Line Park, Mawuena Ladies will play against GHATEL Ladies.

Faith Ladies would also lock horns with Tesano Ladies at the Odorgono Secondary School Park on Saturday, February 12, with Bubiashie Starlets Ladies battling with the Under-12 side of Boyz Boyz Babies at the Bubiashie Mandela Park.

New entrants, Rot Weiss Ladies will pitch their strength against Sunspot Ladies at the Awudome JSS Park.

Meanwhile, Mr George Lawson, Chairman of GAWSOC in a Press Release copied to the GNA Sports has called on all club representatives to attend a general meeting at the Conference Room of the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium on Saturday February 12.
