Division Two side, Roving Rover beat Bofoakwa

Techiman (B/A), Feb.10, GNA - Techiman Roving Rovers, Zone Five Second Division Leaders beat visiting Premier Division side, Tano Bofoakwa 3-2 in a friendly football match at the Ameyaw Sports Stadium in Techiman.

Half Time score was 1-1.

Bofoakwa opened the scores in the 15th minute through their inside right, Richard Oppong "Ayaya" but Roving Rovers who struggled to put their pieces together at the initial stages of the game managed to find the equaliser in the 42nd minute through right-half-back, Paul Ackah just before the recess.

Bofoakwa resumed the second half by fielding most of their regular players including the likes of Attah Fuseini, Tahiru Brahma, Pasco Amponsah, Aikins Abeku and Yaw Kyeremeh who fought from all angles in an attempt to redeem their image and carry the day and thus pinned Rovers to almost half of the field.

Their efforts were rewarded when they earned a spot kick in the 58th minute after inside left, Amadu Shaffer was brought down in the vital area but the resultant kick was punched out by Rovers keeper but centre forward Tahiru Brahma was on target to volley the ball into an empty net for Bofo's second goal.

Roving Rovers re-organised themselves and regained control of the game and got the equaliser in the 75th minute through right half back, Paul Ackah when he delivered a ground shot that caught goalkeeper Ayoma Moro in post for Bofoakwa at the wrong footing.

Cheered on by their vociferous supporters, Roving Rovers increased the scores to 3-2 through their captain, centre forward Gideon Kwarteng in the 85th minute when he beat an off-side trap to lot home the ball to a thunderous applause.

Mr. Suraj Musah, Team Manager of Roving Rovers and one time regular player of Accra Hearts of Oak and the National Under 16 Team, the Black Starlets told GNA Sports that the friendly match was the team's preparation towards their impending Sub-Middle League in February 19.

He said the Club was determined to join the Premier Division and appealed to the Techiman Municipal Assembly and citizens from Techiman and those in and outside the Municipality to contribute generously towards the up-keep of the club.

Mr Omar Denkyira, Coach of the Team was optimistic that with the club's success and ability to beat a Premier Division side, the team was poised to qualify this season from the Second to the First Division. Supporters of Bofoakwa and Roving Rovers including Nana Kwame Tano, B.A United "Gentleman Supporter" alias Komfram and Nana Foase Gyan, Odikro of Nkwaeso watched the entertaining match.
