Black Stars Team Plays Friendly Match In Moscow

The Russian Football Union (RFU) has confirmed that the Black Stars of Ghana would play with the Russian team in a friendly and high profile match on Tuesday, September 6, in Lokomotiv Sports Stadium in Moscow.

According an additional information obtained from the Embassy of the Republic of Ghana, the Black Stars team arrived on Sunday and held its final preparatory match on Monday. The group is made of 35 people headed by an official from Ghana Football Association.

Ghana’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Dr Kodzo Alabo, while expressing hope for the Ghana team to win the match and lauding the highly admirable performance of the national team in several international matches that it has played so far, also confirmed that “the friendly game is scheduled for Tuesday here in Moscow.”

Ghana will use the match as preparation towards the start of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

In mid-August, the Football Union of Russia named a 23-man squad for a friendly with the senior national team of Ghana. The coaching staff of the Russian National team headed by Stanislav Cherchesov.

According official reports, Russia will host the 2018 World Cup. Turkey and Ghana were chosen to play with the Russia national team. On August 31, Russia and Turkey played a goal-less match. The game took place in Antalya.

The Lokomotiv Stadium, located in the north-east of the city of Moscow, has sitting capacity of 28,800 seats. The roof of the stadium is held up by four concrete pylons. The stadium holds 60 VIP boxes, each having between 10 and 20 seats.
