Make Ghana the winner during Top Four

Accra, Jan 15, GNA - Mr Kwadwo Baah Wiredu, outgoing Minister for Education and Sports, has tasked clubs to endeavour to make Ghana the winner whenever they entered the field of play to portray the country's preparedness to host the rest of the continent in the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations.

"Remember to strive and distinguish yourself in every competition you might find yourself in to attest to our readiness to successfully host the 2008 Cup of Nations."

The Minister said this when he launched the fourth edition of the Coca Cola Top Four competition at the Banquet Hall in Accra on Friday. The Ghana League Clubs Association's (GHALCA) organizes the competition for the four finest clubs in the country after every league season.

Mr Baah-Wiredu expressed the Ministry's readiness to assist in its development and paid glowing tribute to the organizers.

The competition, which is in its fourth edition, would feature Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, defending champions King Faisal with Kpando Heart of Lions making their debut.

Coca Cola bottling company has spent 1.4 billion cedis cash and 200 million cedis on sponsorship and jerseys on the competition, which commences on January 23.

The overall winner, according to Mr Ogunsaya Shagun, Chief Executive of Coca Cola, would receive a giant trophy plus 100 million cedis, while the runners up take 75 million cedis with 50 million cedis and 25 million cedis for the third and fourth-placed teams respectively. Supports who will watch the matches at the stadia would be refreshed with a bottle each of coca cola.
