Accra, Dec. 30, GNA - A new Embarkation/Disembarkation Form that would have a detachable portion for the Ghana Tourist Board would be introduced at the points of entry from January 1 2004.
This would enable the compilation of the number of tourists, who come into the country.
Mr Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, Minister of Tourism and Modernization of the Capital City, who announced this at the launch of the "Tourism Data Series" on Thursday, said the new form would help in the development of the Tourism Sector.
Tourism Data series would release data and information on specific areas of tourism and allow the public to make suggestions and recommendations.
Under the programme, regular tourism data would be made available to stakeholders and the public about trends in the development of tourism.
Mr Obetsebi-Lamptey said there was the need for substantial investment in the industry and urged the private sector to take advantage of the data.
He called for suggestions and recommendations from the Private Sector to enable the Ministry to implement a well-planned tourism strategy.
Mr Owusu Amoakohene, Research Officer at the Ministry, told the GNA that the Data Series would provide relevant information in a clear and concise manner to aid stakeholders' efforts in planning, managing, monitoring and evaluating tourism.
A minute's silence was observed for tourists, who died in the Tsunami Disaster on Sunday that hit South East Asia and East Africa.
