Hearts of Oak defeats Benin Under-20 team 2-0

Lome, (Togo), Dec. 22, GNA - Accra Hearts of Oak football team currently in a secret camp in Lome, the Togolese capital in their preparation towards the Confederation Cup finale with Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Tuesday defeated the Benin Under-20 team 2-0 in a second leg friendly match in Lome.

Prince Tagoe scored the opener in the 50th minute with Lawrence Adjei increasing the tally in the 70th minute to give Hearts the opportunity of establishing itself as a better side, having been held to 1-1 draw by the same team in their first leg encounter earlier on Sunday.

James Nanor, Hearts Goal Keeper who captained his side in the match after the game told the GNA Sports that they find the Lome environment conducive to their game plan and that they are concentrating on their objective of coming out with a good team.

"We are in high spirits and with no difficulties so far. We know God helps those who help themselves and we are therefore working hard with the needed prayers for the strength to deliver." He said.

Keeper Nanor was hopeful that Hearts would overcome Kotoko in the Confederation Cup grand finale in January, next year.

Mr. Codjo Edme, Assistant Coach of the Benin team described Hearts as a good team and said "the team knows its objectives and they are working hard to achieve that as a result of the polished game they played with us today."

He said his side, which would be the host team in the on-coming African Under-20 Cup of Nations Tournament from January 15, next year in Benin, would also go into a secret camp either in Ghana or Togo from December 26, this year.

Meanwhile Hearts would be playing its next friendly match on Sunday in Lome against Agaza football team, a Togolese Premier side.
