Accra, March 24, GNA - The Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF) is set to organise the maiden edition of the Indomie Youth and Junior inter-club weightlifting competition billed for Saturday, April 16 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The GWF as part of their development programme began training the youth and junior lifters aged 8- 17 at the National Weightlifting Training Centre.
According to the GWF, the competition is aimed at bringing together the various youth and junior lifters with the various weightlifting clubs in the country to compete for laurels.
The competition will be preceded by a float through some principal streets in Accra on Friday, April 15, ahead of the main event which will draw participation from about 40 youth and junior weightlifters from four clubs.
The competition will also serve as grounds for talent identification for the technical committee of the GWF.
Title sponsor of the competition, DeUnited Foods who are importers of Indomie has agreed to partner the GWF for the youth and development programme with an annual sponsorship package of GHâ‚µ 20,000 and GHâ‚µ 10,000 worth of products.
Winners of the competition will be decorated with medals and awarded with products from Indomie.
