Accra Dec. 1, GNA - One Touch, a business unit of Ghana Telecom on Wednesday announced the establishment of another mobile cellular switch at Kumasi to ensure the availability of starter packs on the market all the time.

"The unavailability of our chip is simply because we did not have the capacity. This is one key we have been working behind the scenes to address once and for all"

The installation of the cellular, which would cater for customers in the northern parts of the country, would be completed by March 2005. Mr Oystein Bjorge, Chief Executive Officer of One Touch, who announced this at a press conference said the company was also replacing and expanding all their old Motorola cell sites with the state of the art Alcatel ones, which have bigger capacities.

Informing the press about two new brands in addition to the One Touch network, Mr Bjorge said the company had come out with "Utouch and Itouch, which would be sold to the public from December 13 this year. "Utouch is for the youth and it has been packaged in a such way that the youth can call at cheaper rates during off peak periods which is between 19 hours and 0700 hours from Monday to Friday. Itouch is a service for the business market," he explained.

He said further, One Touch has also been packaged such that customers could make calls at reduced rates during peak periods, which is between 0700 hours and 1900 hours and customers could now send text messages from One touch to other mobile network.

Explaining what is dubbed, "Big Things" which begun December 1 this year, he said customers could buy the One touch starter packs anytime and even get more minutes per unit calls made.

"Starting from December this year One touch can roam in 33 countries with 43 operators," he said.

The CEO of the company said customers could buy the starter packs at Ghana Post Company, Mobile Max, Cheisons Telecom and Etba Limited. A website to allow frequent interactions between One Touch and its customers and to save customers the ordeal of having to travel to the GT Care4u centres for information has also been launched.
