Football fans across the country will be offered free entry to Sunday's Super Cup match between league champions AshantiGold and MTN FA Cup winners Medeama to usher in the new football season.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has decided to open the gates for free to the public for the match to be played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, 7th February, 2016.

The decision to open the gates for free is a goodwill gesture by the GFA to show the federation's appreciation for the support fans have given the game over the past year.

"Over the past few months we have been debating how we can show our appreciation to the fans for the support they have given local football," Ghana FA spokesman Ibrahim Sannie Daara said.

"We have different suggestions on how we can show our appreciation to the fans. One of the key ideas was the suggestion that we make this gesture and we thought its was great idea.

"So we are calling on supporters of all the clubs in Ghana, the various supporter groups and the ordinary football fans to come to the stadium on Sunday and enjoy this game for free."

The League winners, Ashantigold will take on FA Cup winners Medeama in the match which will to usher in the 2015/16 football season.

The two clubs will also use the match as part of preparations for their CAF inter- club competition matches which will begin this month.
