GTA needs $27,000 for Olympic Qualifier in Morroco

Accra, Jan 28, GNA - The Ghana Tae-Kwondo Association (GTA) will need at least $27,000 to participate in the 2016 Africa Olympic Games qualifiers in Morocco early next month.

The GTA is scheduled to send four athletes to battle for slots from the continent for the biggest sports festival in Brasil later in the year, but the Association has no cash to pursue this agenda.

According to the GTA, the cost will cover air tickets, accommodation and cost of living in Morocco for the two day competition.

Ghana losing risk losing the chance to participate in the qualifiers and subsequently the Olympic Games if the Association is unable to raise funds to support the four athletes earmarked for the competition.

According to the GTA, Ghana will be represented by David Adjetey - Silver medalist in the 2015 All Africa Games (AAG) in Congo, and Danille Pelham - Bronze medallist in AAG Congo, Terrance Asare and Eunice Adukpo based in Ghana.

Information gathered by the GNA Sports indicates that, efforts to raise funds from the corporate world has not been successful and there are indications that, Ghana may not participate.
