Amidu Salifu will have to spend some further time in Ghana due to passport issues

Ghanaian midfielder Amidu Salifu would have to wait a bit longer in Ghana to acquire the new Ghanaian passport before travelling back to his base at Perugia in Italy.

The 23-year-old ball-battling midfielder's old Ghanaian passport has expired and he has to go through the process of acquiring the new biometric passport.

Salifu travelled to Ghana for the Christmas holiday and has to return to Italy to link up with his Perugia team-mates but has been held up by the labyrinthine process of acquiring the passport in Ghana.

His Italian agent has confirmed: "Amidu will be in Italy shortly. He is coming back to Perugia. He is now in Ghana completing paperwork for the new passport and will be in Italy soon."

The Sunyani-born is on loan from Fiorentina and it is not clear whether he will remain at the club with the winter transfer window opening soon.
