Accra, Nov. 11, GNA - The National deaf soccer team, the Black Wonders has secured a mouth-watering sponsorship package for their participation in the 20th Deaflympics Games scheduled for Melbourne, Australia next year.

Salvation Merchants Limited, a Trade Investments and Event Promotion firm on Thursday announced a sponsorship package of about one billion cedis for the team.

The package includes airfares, accommodation, feeding and internal transport for the entire contingent during the Games. Mr Yaw Owusu, Managing Director of the company who announced the package said the decision of his outfit to sponsor the team was as result of the splendid performance of the team during their qualifying games against Nigeria and South Africa.

"Such a feat is unprecedented and stupendous that needs to be complimented with all the efforts, zeal and tenacity it deserves" Mr Owusu said.

According to the Managing Director, the offer will create the necessary impetus and give the players enviable exposure and the opportunity for them to give off their best.

Mr Owusu was of the view that when the less fortunate and disadvantaged in society are given the needed support, they will be able to attain greater heights, hence the need for other corporate organisations to join in the crusade.

The Black Wonders are scheduled to leave Ghana for Australia in the latter parts of December for Australia for the Games that will be held between January, 4-16.
