The Confederation of African Football (CAF), has fined the Ghana Football Association (GFA) $500 following the unruly behaviour of fans during the CAF Confederation Cup qualifier between Liberty Professionals and Al-Hilal of Sudan on July 25, 2004.

This particular incident was on the agenda of a CAF Inter-Club Organising Committee meeting held in Cairo on October 16. According to CAF, spectators threw water bags onto the field of play in the second half of that match. This consequently led to the slapping of the fine on the F.A. FA Chairman, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe, who disclosed this to the Graphic condemned the behaviour of the fans and described it as totally uneccessary.

“Ghanaian football fans have to put a stop to this behaviour to stop tarnishing the image of Ghana in the international football community,” Nyaho-Tamakloe said in a very disturbed tone.
