Osaka, Japan, Dec. 14, (GNA/dpa) - Lucas Alario scored late in the game to send Argentina's River Plate into the Club World Cup final with a hard-earned 1-0 over host team Sanfrecce Hiroshima.

Alario found the net in the 72nd minute for the South American champions after a blunder from Hiroshima goalkeeper Takuto Hayashi.

In Sunday's final in Yokohama, River Plate meet either Champions League winners Barcelona or Asian champions Guangzhou Evergrande of China, who contest the second semi-final on Thursday.

Like Barca, River Plate, who won the tournament in 1986 when it was played in a different format as the Intercontinental Cup, had a bye into the semi-finals.

Hiroshima beat Auckland in a play-off and TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the quarter-finals.

Mazembe also lost the match for fifth place earlier Wednesday, 2-1 against Mexico's Club America.

Dario Benedetto and Martin Zuniga were on target in the 19th and 28th minute respectively for the CONCACAF region Champions League winners, and the African club champions Mazemba could only pull one goal back from Rainford Kalaba shortly before half-time.

The seven-team tournament brings together the six champions from the FIFA confederations
