Accra, Nov 6, GNA - Politicians have been advised to guide against making inflammatory speeches on political platforms so as not to undermine the unity and democratic governance of the country Mr Frederick Asamoah, Chairman of the El-Wak Keep Fit Club made the appeal at the end of the club's 'Political Peace Walk' held in Accra on Saturday.

The walk, which is the club's contribution towards the socio-economic development of the nation and is also aimed at sensitising the general public on the need to maintain peace during and after the general elections, started from the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park through Makola to Nima and ended at the El-Wak Sports Stadium. Over 200 placard-bearing walkers drawn from 15 Keep Fit Clubs in the Greater Accra Region took part in the exercise.

The placards had various messages that included, "All cannot be President of Ghana", "Let's have peaceful elections" and "Give Peace a Chance".

Mr Asamoah said it was regrettable that some politicians were always at each others throat any time they mount platforms and did not augur well for the country's young democracy.

He therefore charged politicians to tolerate each others views so that the country would have peaceful elections that the whole country are all yearning for.
