Real Tamale United (RTU) on Wednesday beat Okwawu United by a lone goal in the second round of the Premier League match played at the Tamale Kaladan Park.

The two teams put up a splendour performance to the admiration of their supporters just after the blast of the whistle with short and accurate passes with RTU slightly on top.

The Tamale boys were however more potent in their build up and in attack while Okwawu occasionally seized the mid field and made threatening moves into RTU's goal area.

Luck however smiled on RTU when an Okwawu defender brought down RTU's centre forward, Alhassan Weah near the 18-yard box and the referee awarded a free kick to RTU and Weah elected himself for the kick, and his effort was deflected by an Okwawu defender into his own net in the 11th minute.

RTU from then on raised the tempo of the game and created goal scoring chances but their attackers shot over the bar or resorted to too many passes at the Okwawu goal area allowing the defenders to cover up. Back from recess, both teams started the game in a fast note with RTU trying to increase their goal margin with Okwawu also threatening to cancel the lead.

Both teams exhibited first class soccer display but all the goal-scoring chances that came their way were wasted. RTU earned several corner kicks but they could not utilize any of them.

As the game was drawing to the dying minutes, the Okwawu boys awoke from their slumber and seized the midfield with inter-positional play which kept the RTU defence reeling and making mistakes in their efforts to contain the onslaught.

This was however shortlived with RTU coming back strongly into the game but try as they did they could not utilise the enormous scoring chances that came their way till referee Cecil Fletcher of Takoradi brought the peaceful match to an end.
