Accra, Oct. 18 GNA - Zaytuna Football Club (formerly Stay Cool) played a determined game to defeat visiting Tema Great Mariners 2 - 1 in their Division one league match played at the Accra Mamprobi Indafa Park on Sunday.

The performance of both teams from the blast of the whistle was a delight to watch but it was the home side, Zaytuna who initially had the better parts of the exchanges and no wonder in the 15th minute, Seidu Zakari got the opener for his side to take an early lead.

The Mariners led by J.B. Danquah and Eric Ackon of Olympics and Hearts fame, contained the pressure with their attackers creating some goal scoring chances but Zaytuna's keeper stood the test saving the attempts at goal till the end of the first half.

Both teams resumed the second half with vigour and determination and made some changes and the changes benefited the visitors when Richard Akunor of the Mariners capitalised on a defensive blunder to score the equaliser in the 65th minute.

Zaytuna accepted the challenge and adopted some aggressive football and piled on the pressure on the visitors but keeper John Adama's impressive performance saved the Mariners from conceding many goals. No wonder the efforts of Zaytuna was rewarded when slippery Ohene Addo fetched the match winner in the 80th minute when he run through the defence of the Mariners to score the match winner to bring the final score to 2-1 in favour of Zaytuna.
