Kumasi, Oct 13, GNA - Kumasi Asante Kotoko scored a hard-won 2-0 victory over Bofoakwa Tano in their Zone 'A' mid-week Premier league match at the Kumasi Sports stadium on Wednesday. Kotoko's goals came in the dying minutes of the game through substitute George Yamoah in the 81st minute and Sanjie Imbola on the 90th minute mark.

Bofoakwa who gave Kotoko no breathing space operated with a very tight defence and mounted a series of attacks but wasted the scoring chances that came their way.

In the 11th minute, Kotoko had a free kick outside the box but Stephen Oduro's shot went off target while his cross to Yusif Chipsah in the 14th minute was also wasted.

Bofoakwa counter attacked and nearly found the opener in the 20th minute but Abeiku Aikins' shot was parried to corner by goalkeeper George Owu.

They continued to pile pressure and had a corner kick in the 26th minute but it was wasted while Deedey Yahaya also shot wide a minute later.

As the game seemed to be getting very tough for Kotoko they brought on Sanjie Imbola in the 40th minute to strengthen their attack for William Thompson who could not match the pace of the game. On resumption of the second half, Kotoko went straight into attack and nearly found the net in the 49th minute when Yusif Chipsah was fouled but the resultant kick was wasted.

Kotoko substituted Shilla Alhassan for Michael Osei in the 56th minute while Bofoakwa also brought on Abu Issah for Osei Kuffour in the 58th minute.

The game became a ding-dong affair until in the 66th minute when George Yamoah who took over from Daniel Yeboah announced his presence with an 81st minute goal from Stephen Oduro's cross to break the deadlock.

When the sparse crowd thought that the score line was going to remain 1-0 and therefore started trooping out of the stadium, Imbola Sanjie headed home a free kick by Stephen Oduro in the 90th minute to ensure total victoryfor his side.
