SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD Tule Adongo last Saturday put up a spirited performance to defeat defending champion Evans Tinduug 7-3 at the 2015 Ball Boys Tennis Championship of the 4 Garrison Officers Mess Tennis Club.

En-route to the grand finale, Adongo, a final-year student of Adum Presby JHS, humbled Thomas Abatumkwora 6-3, before outclassing Bismarck Adonedaga 6-0 in the semi final.

On his part, Evans Tinduug, who was confident of retaining his title, jumped the first hurdle without any competition before defeating Isaac Balotiga 6-3 to set the stage for a final with Adongo.

Adongo, who was playing with precision and determination, frustrated the defending champion all day with his long shots and sublime play, as he eventually carried the day with a 7-3 win.

For his efforts, Adongo got a glittering trophy and a cash prize, presented by Lawyer Franklin Gyamena-Amoako, a member of Mess Tennis, who sponsored the competition.

Adongo, who started playing tennis at the tender age of 8, also took home a brand new mobile phone, presented by Opana Phones.

Interestingly, during the competition, members of the club, including the President of Mess Tennis, Samuel Ampadu-Kyei popularly called 'Kyikyiss', acted as 'ball men', obviously reciprocating the good services of the ball boys.

Lawyer Gyamena-Amoako said he sponsored the tournament to give the platform to the ball boys to showcase their talents, promising to sponsor it next year.

Samuel Ampadu-Kyei, on behalf of the club, thanked Lawyer Gyamena-Amoako for sponsoring the event, urging corporate institutions and well-to-do individuals to support Mess Tennis to promote the sport.
