Accra, Sept. 29, GNA - Mr Kwesi Nyantakyie, Vice Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has stated that selling of media rights on matches of the various national teams has come to stay as it is the only way to ensure effective financing of the teams.

He said selling of Television rights as well as radio commentary is fast growing in football as a business and it is high time that Ghanaians understand the concept and live by it in order for football to grow in the country.

Mr Nyantakyie was responding to questions from the Press on the recent sale of television and radio commentary rights on Black Stars matches to some media organisations in the country.

"It is a policy that the GFA will pursue and plans are in place for its implementation and people must accept the fact that it's a system which has to be part of us" Mr Nyantakyie noted.

Mr Nyantakyie however noted that selling of the rights will be opened for competitive bidding and the best bidder will be given the rights to the matches.

He urged all to embrace the policy since it is the best way to ensure financial independence of the FA as well as the various national teams.
