
Ghana defender Nana Kwesi Asare opened the season with a trophy as his side Gent won their first ever Belgium Super Cup with a 1-0 win over Club Brugge.
The left-back played 78 minutes and was later replaced by Nigeria international Moses Simon.
Gent have twice failed to win the Super Cup in 1983/1984 and 2009/2010 seasons.
Asare played every single match won the Belgium league with Gent last season to end a 115 wait.
The 28-year-old has been capped five times by Ghana.
