Cape Coast, Sept. 7, GNA - An 88th minute goal scored by inside left, Mathias Deheer through a corner kick enabled Cape Coast Mysterious Dwarfs to hold their local rivals, Venomous Vipers to a 1-1 draw in the Afahye Cup match played at the Cape Coast sports stadium over the weekend.

Even though Dwarfs managed to draw with their rivals, the playing body, technical men and supporters of the club have to admit that they were outclassed in all departments of the game throughout the 90 minutes. The game was delayed from 3.30 pm to 4.15 pm due to a clash of jerseys by the two teams.

Cape Coast based referee Joshua Mensah performed creditably to control the tension packed match that saw Vipers attacking first from the blast of the whistle pinning their opponents into their own half, and in the 20th minute, centre forward Frank Mensah scored the opener with a classic shot.

On resumption of the second half, Vipers continued to harass the defence of their opponents combining their play with eye pleasing man-to-man passes and on several times came close to scoring but their forwards squandered the chances.

In the dying minutes of the game, Dwarfs put in extra effort to draw even and as the game was coasting to an end they earned a corner kick from which Deheer out-jumped his markers to score the much needed equaliser for his side.

Mr Samuel Doe, Chairman of the Regional Football Association said since the match ended in a draw, a new date would be fixed for them to meet later to crown the Afahye soccer champion.
