League Report Trouble: SSNIT in court with Ashgold
JUN 12, 2015 LISTEN

Ashanti Gold have been dragged to the law court for failing to pay the SSNIT contributions of their players to the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).

The Obuasi District court will sit on the case on Friday (today) to begin judgment on the case.

Payment of SSNIT is a legal requirement for all employers to abide by, so that employees during their retirement age or when they become incapacitated would benefit from the scheme.

Hence, a default of payment will call for the appropriate sanctions to the employer.

Other clubs would be victims of this, because players are mostly paid from clubs' secretariat instead of the banking halls, making it easy for the employers to evade the payment of SSNIT contributions of their players to the Social Security and National Insurance Trust.
