Philanthropist donates jerseys to Vipers

Cape Coast, Sept.2, GNA - Mr Fiifi Baiden, a native of Abura Dunkwa based in Los Angeles, United States of America on Wednesday presented a set of jerseys worth about 18 million cedis, to Cape Coast Venomous Vipers at Cape Coast.

Mr Baiden said the donation was his personal contribution to the club and expressed the hope that it would boost the moral of the players to train harder to qualify for the elite division.

Mr Kweku Tandoh, Chairman of the club who received the jerseys thanked Mr Baiden for his gesture and appealed to other Cape Coast citizens to emulate his example.

The Chairman said the new jerseys would be commissioned during the club's special Fetu Afahye Cup match against their local rivals, Ebusua Dwarfs at the Cape Coast sports stadium on Sunday, September 4.

He said the club will need about 200 million cedis for this year's division one league and appealed to organisations and individuals to assist the club either in kind or cash to enable it prepare adequaltely. Mr Tandoh said plans are afoot to turn the club into a liability company and appealed to supporters to buy shares and called on all supporters of the club to contribute towards its 70th year celebration on July 1,2006.

On the current division one league, he suggested that the League should be played on neutral grounds to enable the GFA declare the various champions by the end of November.
