Cape Coast, Aug. 24, GNA - Thirty football clubs will participate in the Central Region Division Two league, which kicks off on Sunday September 4, with a stern warning to both referees and club officials to guard against corrupt practices.
The league was to have taken off on Sunday August 29, but it was postponed due to a technical hitch.
Mr Mathew Doe, Chairman of the Regional Football Association issued the warning and announced the new date at a consultative meeting with chairmen of the various clubs at Cape Coast on Tuesday.
He asked the club officials to report any referee who approached them for money to influence matches in their favour to expose or attempt to do so.
Mr Doe in the same vein asked referees to also expose any club official who would attempt to influence them with money. The Regional RFA Chairman further expressed concern over hooliganism which characterised the 2003 football league season and urged them to educate their supporters to comport themselves during matches.
He briefed the Chairmen on registration procedures and appealed to those who have not yet completed the registration of their players to do so by next Monday.
