Tamale, Aug. 18, GNA - Supporters of Real Tamale United (RTU) on Wednesday expressed gratitude to the government for lifting the State of Emergency in Tamale and Yendi, which the said would pave the way for them to watch matches at Kaladan Park.

Alhaji Alhassan Madugu, Chairman of the RTU supporters of Channel "O" told the GNA Sports that the team would play its first match on Thursday with Liberty Professionals after a long absence from their home grounds. He commended the government and the Regional Security Council (RESEC) for lifting the state of emergency and gave the assurance that all their home matches would be violent free.

Alhaji Madugu, however, expressed disappointment about the delay in the execution of construction works at the Park, with particular concern about the grassing aspect and called on the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports to put pressure on the contractors to ensure the early completion of the project.

He said the Parks and Gardens who are executing the grassing aspect of the field, gave assurance some time past that the field would be ready by June this year, but which assurance has since been elusive. Alhaji Madugu indicated that though RTU would be playing at the Kaladan Park, they cannot use the grassed field "because of poor work" and the incompletion of the field and so they intend using a patched field close to the main playing field.

He appealed to all supporters and sympathizers of the RTU to use the opportunity to throng to the park to support the team towards victory.
