E/R Division 2 league to take-off on Sept. 19

Koforidua, Aug. 15, GNA - This year's Eastern Region Second Division soccer league takes off on September 19, 2004 on a novelty ten-zone basis.

The date was decided at an emergency meeting of the Management Board of the Eastern Regional Football Association (RFA) and representatives of second division clubs in the Region on Friday. Among other decisions taken at the meeting was that a ten-zone league of four clubs in each Zone should be played to enable the Region complete its league within six weeks in view of its late start. The meeting asked all clubs participating in the league to pay their affiliation fee of 400,000 cedis at the secretariat of the RFA by August 30, 2004.

It was agreed that after the league, all the clubs that top the league table in their zones would qualify for the Regional Middle League to decide on the club to represent the Region in the National Division One League.

The meeting also agreed that all the last clubs in each of the zones would be relegated to division three but where a zone has only three clubs none of them would be relegated. Mr Martin Bruce, Secretary to the RFA informed the meeting that ten clubs in the Division had been demoted to Division Three while ten clubs had been promoted from Division Three to join Division Two this year.

He mentioned the names of the clubs that had been promoted as Atibie Stone Crushers, Somanya Dedenden F/C, Adukrom Okere United, Suhum Star Rangers, Akwadum Kaiser F/C and Kade Hotspurs. Others include Osenase White Arrows, Apirede Rangers, Akroso Manchester United and Kpong Youngsters.

He mentioned the clubs that were demoted to Division Three as Great Flamingos, Mighty Krobo Youth, Kendis F/C, Oklibone Stars, Great Lions, A. C. Olympiakos, Super Stars, El Ahley, Black Boys and Supper Stars.
