Catholic Stars beat Upper West Heroes 2-0.

Bolgatanga, August 2, GNA - Catholic Stars Football Club, a first division team in Bolgatanga on Sunday beat Upper West Heroes of Wa 2-0 in a friendly football match at the Bolgatanga Sports Stadium. The match forms part of preparations of the two teams towards the commencement of the First Division league in their various groups which is due to begin this month.
Catholic Stars played a prolific and concise pattern in the first quarter of the match, forcing the visitors to play defensively. Stars maintained their momentum until in the dying minutes of the first half when Fatawu Mohammed, who made amends to an earlier miss to put the homesters in the lead in the 44th minute. Heroes came back after the first half a rejuvenated side and mounted sustained pressure on the hosts but they eventually lost control of the ball after Catholic Stars effected two changes to re-energize their mid-field.
In the 54th minute, Abu Hannan, the head striker of Stars took control of a swift pass from his counterpart, Fatawu Mohammed to dribble Heroes goalie who rushed out of his goal line to catch the ball but slipped giving way for the striker to increase his side's goal to two. Briefing the GNA Sports later, the Head Coach of Catholic Stars, Mr. Franklin Atogiyire said two weeks ago, his team beat the junior team of RTU 1-0 and would engage the senior team next Sunday for another encounter at the same venue. He said the team was determined to top the league in the Region that has among them two other contestants, Mighty Rocks and Upper Stars, saying that, " My boys are determined to beat every team that comes our way, because we are bent on featuring in the Premier League this time round.
