Hearts of Oak outscored Istanbul fc in the Elite Cup game played on Wednesday at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium, Accra.

Goals from Isaac Oduro, Musah Inusah and Maxwell Boakye won the day for Hearts of Oak as they progress to the next stage of the competition.

Isaac Oduro opened the scoring in the 22 minute from the spot kick, but the Burkinabe goalkeeper, Soulama Abdoulaye who denied Istanbul a goal got injured with some few minutes to end the first half and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Back from recess, Hearts had to wait until the 73 minute, before Musah Inusah doubled their lead and Maxwell Boakye put the icing on the cake in the 90+5 minute.

The Eite Cup was instituted to keep the Ghana league clubs active, after King Faisal's court action against the Ghana FA resulted to inactivity among the clubs.

Hearts of Oak are placed 12 on the league log of the First Capital Plus Premier league and will take on take on in-form Heart of Lions on Sunday at Kpando.
