Football match in aid of Ghana's Olympic contingent

Accra, July 13, GNA - The Sports One Network Foundation organisers of the Olympic Raffle tickets is in conjunction with Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting club organising a friendly football match to raise funds for Ghana's Olympic contingent.

The match between the Millennium Champions, Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi-based King Faisal will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, July 18.

A Release from the Foundation said the Olympic Raffle tickets will be sold along side the gate tickets for the match to enable the organisers raise extra funds for the GOC.

It said winners of the Olympic Raffle would include the first prize of a 15 seater bus plus a free ticket to Athens, second to 25th winners, free tickets to Athens to watch the games and other consolation prizes ranging from DVD, Television sets, mobile phones and others. The Release said the draw of the raffle would be held on 30th July this year, adding that the match is a national supporters one that seeks to invite all supporters from the cross section of all clubs to support a worthy cause.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in a Release signed by Mr K. Ampim-Darko, Deputy General Secretary copied to the GNA Sports said the match has been sanctioned by the GFA.

It said the match was been organised to raise funds for Ghanaian athletes who have qualified for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. It therefore called for the Accra Sports Stadium to be made available to the organisers for the match and also requested the Referees Committee of the FA to appoint officials for the match.
