Enchi (W/R), June 29, GNA - Sixteen players of Soccer Wise Professionals, (SWP) a second division football club based at Enchi in the Aowin Suaman District are to travel to Egypt and Dubai by June 30 this year to play some trial matches.

Mr Lawrence Cudjoe alias Diabolo, Chairman and founder of the club disclosed this to the GNA Sports at Enchi the week-end. He said the trip is meant to give the players the necessary international exposure and to assist them develop their skills. Mr Cudjoe said though football is the passion of the nation, the SWP is facing severe financial problems.

He said apart from the Quality Control Division of COCOBOD which has been periodically assisting the team financially, it has to manage with proceeds from its meagre gate fees.

Mr Cudjoe said during the rainy season, the team is forced to stop all of its training sessions because the park becomes flooded. He said though Samartex Company Limited supported with the fencing of the park, the rains and low lying area of the park had made them cancel several zonal and friendly matches.

Mr Cudjoe said the management of the team was negotiating with the District Assembly to support the club to fill the park with sand and thereby improve upon the team's matches.

He therefore appealed to chiefs, football fans and philanthropists to come to the aid of the club.
