The architect behind South Africa's successful bid of 2010 World Cup, Danny Jordan has called on the leaders of the entire continent of Africa to join hands in support of successful hosting of the finals which he described as an opportunity for the good people of the continent to prove a point to the international community. He recounted the bizarre circumstance under which Africa was 'robbed' of the opportunity to host the 2006 finals.

In a live telephone interview with SPACE FM, on Saturday morning, the Chairman of South Africa's 2010 World Cup Bid committee told Space Supersport that South Africa in collaboration with the partner countries worked very hard to win the right to host the finals, hence there is the urgent need to justify the confidence reposed in the continent by FIFA.

He said it is important that the 2010 World Cup was made affordable and accessible to the people of the continent stressing that the issue would be raised in the contract to be signed with FIFA. “Most of the people cannot afford to pay $50 or more for matches”, he pointed.

He revealed that South Africa has plunged into serious preparation to build new stadia improve upon the existing ones, Medicare, hotels and other facilities that would be essential for the hosting of the finals.

On the road 2006 finals in Germany, he was cautious about the chances of the Bafana Bafana Boys. According to Mr. Jordaan, Sunday's world Cup qualifier between the Black Stars of Ghana and Bafana Bafana could be anybody's game, and therefore refused to predict the outcome of the match, though he wished his countrymen well.
